As the Director of Business Operations, Sirilo excels in the viticultural aspects and also brings a keen operational acumen to Clendenen Vineyard Management (CVM). His expertise lies in efficient and strategic operations of the business, organizational management, and client relations.
Sirilo’s connection with the land, vines, and business of grape growing began at a young age. As Nicolas Cornejo’s son, weekends were not just leisure for Sirilo, but an apprenticeship in the art, science, and business of vineyard management. The vineyard became his classroom, where he learned the meticulous techniques of the business, coupled with the leafing, pruning, and suckering of grapevines under the watchful guidance of his father.
Sirilo’s formal journey into the world of viticulture began in 2007 when he pursued a comprehensive education at UC Davis. His education focused on viticulture & enology, soil science, and the business of vineyard management. While many of his peers aspired to become winemakers, Sirilo’s unwavering goal was clear – to master the business operations of vineyard management. This makes him the perfect synergy of heritage, education, and a forward-looking approach, solidifying CVM’s position as a leader in the industry.
Nicolas Cornejo is a seasoned professional renowned for his mastery in vineyard operations, supervision and training. As both Owner and Director of Vineyard Operations, his accessibility to clients is seamlessly coupled with a profound understanding of successful grape growing. He brings over 30 years of farming expertise, unparalleled efficiency, attention to detail, and his deep, institutional knowledge of the business to the field.
Originally from the state of Michoacan, Mexico, Nicolas’ journey in the wine industry started in 1989 when he joined forces with John Clendenen at Preston Vineyards. As Clendenen Vineyard Management’s (CVM) first employee and founding partner, Nicolas took over full ownership of CVM in 2017.
Nicolas’ distinctive approach to vineyard management is marked by his client-centric focus, which ensures open lines of communication and fostering strong relationships within the industry. His dedication to excellence consistently positions CVM as a leader in vineyard management. As the driving force behind CVM, Nicolas continues to shape and elevate the standards of vineyard operations, embodying the ethos of professionalism, expertise, and a relentless pursuit of quality.
